During my visit to my grandmother, I was deeply moved. The place, seen from the outside and in the photos, is indeed magnificent. But the reality inside left me with profound questions. The apartment she lives in seemed dilapidated, far from the image one might imagine. Beyond the state of the place, it was above all the feeling of loneliness that struck me: during the time I spent with her, there were very few visits, very little presence. It's touching and a little sad to think that after a lifetime of work, someone can end their days in a space that lacks both warmth and human attention. In such a beautiful setting, one would hope that support, presence, and small moments of connection would be at the heart of everyday life. The beautiful photos are eye-catching, but it is above all these moments of human warmth that make all the difference for our elders.
