I think people only leave Google reviews when they're dissatisfied, not when everything is going well.
I want to thank and commend Dr. Poline and all the staff who took such wonderful care of my grandmother. They were very kind, understanding, and dedicated. They were responsive (by phone and email), and the rooms were clean, beautiful, and well-appointed (which isn't always the case). There's a lovely cafeteria for visitors with equally friendly staff. The reception and administrative processes were impeccable. I highly recommend this facility and wouldn't hesitate to transfer my grandmother there (in fact, she's been asking to be treated there herself...).

It's hard to give a higher rating for a facility that's understaffed and whose lack of commitment is so blatant it's sickening.
A substitute doctor, in his supposed expertise, decided not to put a bed rail on the bed during the day after a first fall, even though she was supposedly in rehabilitation following hip surgery.
A detestable nurse who didn't even take two minutes to answer our questions, using the excuse that she was distributing medication. After addressing her politely at first, I ended up telling her that if we needed anything, we could ask her. Her clear response was, "That's it! Change careers if you're not fulfilled."
After 15 days in the hospital, a discharge date was scheduled even though she only had half an hour of physical therapy.
My sister-in-law noticed an unpleasant odor when she entered the room. Upon searching, she discovered the pajamas in the closet covered in excrement. No protection, no hygiene! Appalling! We found her once sitting alone on the edge of the bed and three times in a chair, falling as soon as she stood up, and then a second fall right after!
And the worst part was yesterday when she was lying in her wheelchair almost naked without any incontinence protection, and nobody seemed to care. We had to complain to get a lovely caregiver 🙏 who was stunned to find her like that.
Special mention to a marine nurse ❤️ who does her job more than perfectly in this world of indifference, and also to her extremely kind referring doctor 🫶. Also, to the social worker 👏 who was incredibly kind and available; she worked quickly and efficiently to find us a suitable facility.
My mother-in-law is being discharged today, having been lucky enough to find a facility that could accommodate her on her discharge date and leave the Kem, a system that only has the name to offer to hope to keep our loved ones safe.

⚠️ SERIOUS SHORTCOMINGS AT THE LE KEM MEDICAL CARE UNIT (THIONVILLE)
Following a femur fracture, my mother was transferred from the orthopedic surgery department in Metz to the LE KEM MEDICAL CARE UNIT in Thionville. This care unfortunately revealed numerous shortcomings.
🔴 Violation of dignity and autonomy: upon arrival, she was put in a diaper, unlike in the surgical ward where assistance with toileting facilitated recovery.
🔴 Lack of hygiene: soiled linen was mixed with clean linen, in complete contradiction with basic hospital hygiene standards.
🔴 Deteriorating interpersonal relationships: nursing staff under considerable stress, sometimes responding rudely to legitimate questions from families.
🔴 Questionable medical communication: the announcement of a rapid discharge (15 days) was unrealistic for an octogenarian, followed by the erroneous claim that this early discharge was at the family's request.
🔴 Profit-driven approach at the expense of the patient: the feeling that the priority was no longer care but bed management.
👉 The lack of resources is a reality, but it does not justify the lack of professionalism or the absence of humanity.
👉 This account is being shared to raise awareness and prevent other families from experiencing the same situation.
After an experience with my mother who was hospitalized in this facility, I repeatedly observed attitudes and a lack of coordination that left something to be desired. Respect and diplomacy should be constant, especially towards vulnerable people and their families. However, the impression left is that of a sometimes flawed organization and tactless exchanges. It would be desirable for human quality to regain the place it deserves at the heart of care. A sincere effort at organization and consideration would be greatly appreciated.
I'm giving this a 1 so as not to give it a 0. An absolute disgrace: a place to avoid for your loved ones.
I would like to express my deep outrage at the unacceptable experience my grandfather endured in this geriatric center. From the very first days, we observed a total lack of humanity and respect toward him. On several occasions, we found him in degrading conditions: soiled with urine and feces, in the middle of the afternoon, without any assistance being provided.
When we reported the situation and asked for him to be changed, the staff's response was often the same: "This is not the time." How can anyone utter such a statement to an elderly, vulnerable, and distressed person?
He also suffered from a urinary tract infection caused by obvious dehydration, a clear sign of a total lack of supervision and basic care. Worse still, instead of providing him with the care and support he deserved, they literally "shot" him up with morphine or other medications, apparently to keep him quiet and not cause any disturbance. There was no proper follow-up. One afternoon, we arrived just as he was calling for help. The infirmary was right next door, but no one moved. No reaction. No glances. Just indifference.
This behavior is not only inhumane, but also unworthy of the profession these people are supposed to practice by vocation. When you choose to work with the elderly, you choose to serve, to help, to respect. Not to despise, to ignore, and to get rid of them with medication.
Thank God, my grandfather was able to get out of that place. But I cannot remain silent. If you care about your loved ones, flee this place. No human being deserves such treatment, especially not at an age when they need more care, compassion and dignity.
